One night last month I was driving home in a terrible storm. The wind was blowing furiously and it was raining hard. I couldn’t drive faster than 25 kph. I told myself that the car was the safest place of all, but I felt very nervous. Suddenly, round a corner I saw a person standing in the rain. I wasn’t sure if it was a man or a ghost! I drove on but after a few seconds I stopped. What if the man needed help? What if he was injured? I didn’t know what to do. I really wanted to check he was all right but, at the same time, I was scared. He could rob me. I thought about it for a few more minutes and then I decided to go back. As I got to the corner I noticed he wasn’t there anymore. I looked around but it was raining too much to see anything. Then I heard a noise. I turned and I saw the man. He was knocking on the window and trying to make me open the door. I was so scared! Finally, I lowered the window and he said: ‘Hi, can you help me? I’m not sure where I am and I need to get to a town so I can take a bus home.’ I only had a few seconds to decide. I took the risk. “Get in,’ I said, ‘I’ll take you to the nearest town.’ He told me that while he was driving with his girlfriend they had a terrible argument. He decided to get out of the car without thinking that it was raining and that he was far from any town or village. I looked at him and I could see that he was very sad. Just when I was starting to relax he fell asleep. Do you want to know how this story ended? Well, the passenger seat of my car only got completely dry after three days and after a week Ross, that’s his name, phoned me to thank me. We are best friends now and I really like him a lot!
